The term “Dead Cat Bounce” was coined back in the 1980s when a high-flying Gordan Gekko-like stockbroker used it to describe a bounce up in falling shares- “even a dead cat will bounce if it falls from a great height”. The name was adopted by this musical comedy group following a sketch involving four stockbrokers and a dead prostitute.
