Maguires on Grafton Street, a local institution for Trinity students, is to close on January 18th.
The popular convenience store, located at 109 Grafton Street, will become the site of a new franchise of the health food restaurant chain Chopped, while maintaining its current ownership. The Dublin chain, established in 2012, already has four locations elsewhere in the city â Ballsbridge, Baggot Street, Fairview, and St Stephens Green.
Merely steps away from both the Nassau Street and Front Square entrances to the Trinity campus, Maguires has long been a favourite among Trinity students for its deli options as well as frequent student deals and collaboration with student societies during Freshersâ Week.
In a message posted on its Facebook page, the only online presence the shop currently maintains, Maguires management stated: âTo all our loyal customers over the years, we’d like to take this opportunity to thank you so much for your business, it really is very much appreciated. You have kept [us] busy through one of the worst recessions the country has ever seenâ, adding that âWe are very excited about our next chapter for the business and hope you are tooâ.
