After two blowout shows at Forbidden Fruit Festival and Metropolis Festival last year, Korean mastermind Peggy Gou is making her return to Dublin this month. It’s actually one of the most non-standard shows District 8 has presented this year. She floats between the world’s best techno powerhouses, splitting her time between Detroit, Berlin and London. Dressed in a loose fitting patterned shirt, Gou’s sets are as laid back as her attire, while simultaneously high energy. Her ease behind the decks makes you smile just seconds into her sets, her unpredictability whetting even the most critical of appetites. Although she headlines this show, she’s joined on the night by two equally accomplished DJs: Job Jobse and Soichi Terada, who hail from the Netherlands and Japan, respectively.

Amsterdam is quite quickly becoming Europe’s next best electronic music hub after Berlin, and Jobse is among the tribes of DJ’s, producers and labels settled in the Netherlands capital. He’s a resident at what is arguably Amsterdam’s best electronic music club, De School, which even as a standalone achievement says much about his ability. Jobse’s sounds have now earned him a slot at festivals and clubs across the continent, and his first slot in Dublin since 2016.

Word on the street says Soichi Terada is the real pull for many to this event. This Japanese DJ is the smiliest, happiest guy going and his music falls no short of the same. You honestly can’t help but love him. Terada sold out Dublin’s The Sugar Club last year and is becoming a household name among electronic enthusiasts in the city. District 8 will be brimming with good vibes this Friday and it’s not too late to grab a last minute ticket.
