Vegan Society Gets CSC Approval

Trinity now has an official Vegan Society.

DU Vegan Society has received provisional recognition from the Central Societies Committee (CSC).

The society announced the news on its Facebook page today.

There have been many attempts to establish a vegan society in the past, but none succeeded until now when five students pooled their efforts and worked on creating the society together. The founding members are Will Stapleton, Antonia Baumann, Cassia Gilmartin, Aksel Nadir, Hannah Gilmartin.

The CSC constitution states that “provisional recognition shall lapse after a period of eighteen months from the date of said recognition or after the society has been considered for full recognition at an Annual General Meeting of the Committee”.

In the Facebook post, DU Vegan Society said that its focus will be on promoting an understanding of veganism and vegan products in College. But DU Vegan Society said that the society is “in no way a society exclusively for vegans”.

DU Vegan Society are in the Arts Block and the Hamilton all day today and Thursday to take signatures of any prospective members. As well as this, DU Vegan Society will be holding an AGM next Tuesday at 7.30pm to fill the society’s committee positions.
