TCDSU Elects Part-Time Officers, Convenors and Committee Reps

Emma Black, Daniel O'Reilly and Ida Lis were elected the three new faculty convenors of TCDSU at council this evening.

Trinity College Dublin Students’ Union (TCDSU) elected its part-time officers, convenors and committee reps tonight at the last meeting of this year’s council, with Emma Black elected elected Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences (AHSS) Faculty Convenor, Daniel O’Reilly elected Engineering, Maths and Science (EMS) Faculty Convenor and Ida Lis elected Health Sciences (HS) Faculty Convenor.

The races for AHSS and HS convenor were both uncontested, with O’Reilly defeating Darragh Flood and Se Ó hEidhin to the position.

James Donoghue was elected the union’s Mature Officer, running uncontested for the role, while Ray Carey defeated Rebbeca Kelly, Alice Yu and Emma Rossiter to the position of Gender Equality Officer.

Nollaig Butler, a member of the Electoral Commission this year, defeated current TCDSU Gender Equality Officer Aoife Grimes to the position of Citizenship Officer. Courtney McGrath, who served as a member of the Disability Committee, will serve as next year’s Officer for Students with a Disability.

Leah Freeman was elected Student Parent Officer for next year. Thomas O’Neill was elected TCDSU’s LGBT Rights Officer, Jodie Milne was elected Access Officer, and Muireann Nic Corcráin was elected the union’s Oifigeach na Gaeilge.

Daire Hennessy, who this year ran for president of TCDSU, was elected Volunteer Forum Co-Ordinator. Abdul Abshir will serve as next year’s Ethnic Minorities Officer, while Salem Barakat was elected International Students’ Officer.

Emma Rossiter was elected as the union’s Community Liaison Officer. Ruby Barrett was elected Environmental Officer.

Sadhbh Brennan was elected to take over from Stephen Sheil as Chair of Council, with Ellen McGrath elected Secretary.

Laura Owens, Yannick Gloster, Nicole Greenan and Philip O’Hanrahan were elected members of the electoral commission and will serve for the coming year on the body.

Cian Fogarty was elected biennial member of the Electoral Commission, meaning he will serve two years on the body.
