A man has been arrested after the suspected stabbing to death of a woman in her 30s at a Trinity-affiliated accommodation complex in the early hours of this morning.
Gardaí were called to the Aparto Binary Hub apartment complex in Dublin 8 where they found the woman with injuries, including at least one stab wound. She was taken to St James’s Hospital but was pronounced dead a short time later.
A man in his 30s has been arrested and is being held at Kevin St Garda Station. Investigations into the incident are ongoing. The scene remains closed off, with traffic diversions in place.
The stabbing took place in the Aparto Binary Hub, a luxury student accommodation complex located at Roe’s Lane, Bonham St. When it opened in September 2016, it was Dublin’s largest purpose-built student accommodation development.
RTE this morning reported that others staying in the complex could hear screaming and yelling. One said he saw “a bit of blood on the floor” as he left the building today.
Gardaí are appealing to any witnesses or to anyone with information to come forward.
Binary Hub is listed on the accommodation section of Trinity’s website, with rooms advertised from €250 per week.
