Steve McQueen, Judi Dench, Amy Poehler and Game of Thrones Showrunners to Visit Trinity

Several societies announced their guest lists for the coming year, including several big names.

The Oscar-winning film director Steve McQueen, Dame Judi Dench and Astronaut Chris Hadfield are amongst the guests visiting the Phil this year, it was announced today.

They join a Phil line-up that includes Amy Poehler, several famous authors, and comedians Steve Coogan and Catherine Tate.

Game of Thrones show runners, DB Weiss and David Benioff, will visit Law Soc this year, as part of a line-up that includes Game of Thrones actors Aidan Gillen and Gwendoline Christie. Acclaimed human rights lawyer Amal Alamuddin will also visit the society. The Law Soc guest list also includes Senator David Norris, LGBTQ* activist Panti Bliss, UK Supreme Court Chief Justice Lord Neuberger, and Gwendolen Morgan, lawyer to Edward Snowden.

The Society for International Affairs (SoFIA) will be welcoming the Palestinian Ambassador to Ireland to an event during Fresher’s week, while the Sociology Society will welcome Gerry Gregg and Tomi Reichental, the director and subject respectively of holocaust drama “Close to Evil”.

Other guests for the coming year include Jon Snow, the longest-running presenter of Channel 4 News, Simon Amstell, and Pete Wentz (Fall Out Boy), who will all be visiting the Phil.

Last year, several unexpected announcements of guests were made during the course of the year, with Derren Brown, German Chancellor Angela Merkel, Jonah Hill, Channing Tatum, and Sinéad O’Connor adding further star power to the guest books of The Phil, Hist, and Law Soc.
